Why use write2gether?

Why not just use Google Docs?

Google Docs is useful for full documents. For a quick email, newsletter paragraph or social media post, write2gether keeps the work focused: start a draft and share one editing link. Guests can contribute without an account or sign-in, and without an invitation or sharing-permissions dialog. Colour-coded contributions show who wrote what, with version history and documents hosted on EU servers. You can go from draft to shared link in about 30 seconds.

Why not Microsoft Word or Microsoft 365?

Word and Microsoft 365 are made for broader office workflows. When you only need to agree on a short text, skip file attachments and access settings: share a write2gether link and let guests edit without a Microsoft account or sign-in. The writing space stays focused, each person’s contributions have their own colour, and your Docs are hosted on EU servers. Sharing a draft takes about 30 seconds.

Does write2gether replace a word processor? What is it for?

No. It is for quickly drafting and reviewing short texts together, not for laying out long documents or replacing Word or Google Docs. Use it for:

  • Emails and customer replies
  • Newsletter introductions, subject lines and announcements
  • Social media posts and captions
  • Replies for a team-managed WhatsApp account
  • Website copy, campaign messages and short invitations

For WhatsApp, draft responses together in write2gether, then copy the final text into WhatsApp. It does not connect to or manage a WhatsApp account.

Can people edit a shared Doc without an account?

Yes. Anyone with a valid sharing link can edit the Doc without signing in. Only share the link with people you want to give access to.

What happens to Free Docs after 30 days?

Free Docs are automatically deleted 30 days after they are created, even if you edit or share them later. Export anything you want to keep.

What does Unlimited include?

Unlimited costs CHF 60 per year. You can create unlimited new Docs, and Docs created while Unlimited is active have no automatic expiry. Keep your own copies of important content.

Can I connect an AI assistant via MCP?

Yes. With Unlimited, you can create a private MCP connection URL in Account settings and use it with a compatible AI client. The assistant can list and read your Docs, create new Docs and get or create sharing links. Anyone with the full URL can access your Docs, so keep it private. You can copy, reveal, rotate or revoke the URL in Account settings. Setup varies by AI client.

Can I see who changed a shared Doc?

Colour-coded contributions and version history help you follow changes. People using a sharing link can choose a display name.
